Happy Tummy in Baguio: Pizza Volante, Steaks and Toppings, Vizco’s, Solibao, Ketchup Community, Filling Station and Forest House

Baguio is a place anyone would visit not just once. Even if I’ve been there a handful of times, I haven’t seen everything, which gives me enough reasons to always come back.

Let’s check out some of the restaurants and coffee shops that are only available in Baguio.

Steaks and Toppings along Session Rd.

They have sizzling plates, regular dishes with 2 viand choices, and smoothies.

Cafe Lusso, just a 3-minute walk away from Session Rd. in Gen. Luna (near University of Baguio and St. Louis University).

A Cafe that lets their customers use their Tablets =)

It is quiet, has good food and has a separate smokers’ section. Among the places, this, and Forest House make the most instagram and FB-worthy photo uploads.

Pizza Volante also in Session Rd. It’s a 24-hour pizza parlor that boasts of original flavors. They have 2 floors, and offer beer with their pizza, as most people would have. Cold beer and warm pizza.

This is the uniquely tasteful Pizza Manegro.

The smallest order was i think 4″, more like a solo plate. This is the Pesto Pizza. Uhm… I can take a bite but not everything.

Forest House. It was the most expensive, in all of the places we’ve been at in Baguio.

This is how it looks like from the outside:

It’s a bed and breakfast and restaurant at the same time. It has a smoking section with a spectacular view of the Baguio City lights. We opted for the non-smoking secion which was a lot cozier, with the Christmas atmosphere very much felt.

This here is the Ilocano dish Bagnet:

The downside is just it’s a little bit far from the center of the city, and it could get really dark at night, with only a few cabs passing by. There is a blind curve fronting the restaurant, so please be careful.

Price range: PhP 200-500 per plate

Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop also along Session Rd.

50’s Diner –   located 5 minutes away from Session Rd. It serves large plates, the ambiance is very friendly. It is very crowded that even setting up a table outside would mean another hungry customer being happy.

I ordered Boys in the ‘Hood, with Spaghetti, pizza, pork chop, fried chicken and rice, all for PhP 150 at that time (2009).

If you’re hungry, want really good food, and within a budget, 50’s diner is a sure candidate.

Price range: PhP 150-200 per plate

Solibao not only has a restaurant, but it also caters to bigger events. It has branches in Session Rd., Burnham, and 3 others. Check out their website at solibao.com

Ketchup Food Community is a compound, a community of local restaurants near Wright Park (don’t worry, the food doesn’t smell like dung). It houses Canto which I think is the most popular, given that I’ve already had 3 attempts to eat there and failed – twice closed and once, the queue is too long. It serves steak at a really reasonable price.

Happy Tummy serves Filipino dishes and Thai Cuisine. They’re famous for their Tilapia in Tamarind Sauce but we tried out Chicken Pandan and Bagnet.

Filling Station in Camp John Hay – and now, for desserts. Don’t get me wrong, this place fills your tummy with everything, not just the sweets, but in our trip there, we specifically went for Strawberries and Ice cream.

So, when in Baguio, don’t just visit the tourist spots. For the mean time, forget the food you can find at home. Indulge instead on Baguio restaurants. You’d be in for a treat, as I think you already know.

Burp…

(Author’s Note: I’ll keep adding to the list when I visit again – Targeting all restaurants in the Ketchup Community)
