The Perks of Being A “Forced Wallflower”

I have always loved the limelight but I always say that I want to stand in the sidelines.

In the same breath I have always felt underestimated.. and when bright hope smiles at me?

I get all psyched and end up with mediocrity.

Ultimately living up to their expectations.

I’ve wanted my turn so bad that when I finally get it, the energy has already diminished.

Or I never really had the talent to begin with, but pretended that I had.

I must have confused reality with blurred visions of my successful alter ego.

I must have thought that I really mattered. And that I was great at something.

When I really wasn’t. And you, yes you, and you, and you and you…

Reminded me of that. Thank you very much.
